Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is eligible to play on the U10 Girls team?
A: Girls born in 2015 or 2016 are eligible for the U10 Girls team, which competes in the Middlesex Yankee Girls Hockey League (MYGHL).
Q: Can my daughter play on both a girls team and a co-ed Squirt team?
A: Yes! Girls are welcome to register for both the U10 Girls team and a co-ed Squirt team in the Valley Hockey League (VHL) to get more ice time and a broader development experience. Tuition will be collected for both for both teams.
We are still looking into making this work where the U10 Girls Team is not shorted players.
Q: What are the benefits of playing on an all-girls team?
A: All-girls teams provide a supportive, empowering environment where girls can build confidence, form friendships, and take on leadership roles. They often get more puck touches and feel more comfortable stepping into new situations.
Q: Are evaluations required for the U10 Girls team?
A: At this time, no evaluations are planned. Teams will be formed based on registration numbers, skill balance, and developmental needs.
Q: How often do teams practice and play?
A: U10 Girls teams typically have weekly practices and ~25 games throughout the season. Optional tournament opportunities may be offered (at additional cost).
Q: What equipment does my player need?
A: Players must wear full, properly fitted USA Hockey-compliant gear and can order both a game and practice jersey when accepting their team commitment offer.
